Is Season 5 Of Stranger Things In The Works?
This is the last season of Stranger Things, therefore season 5 is definitely occurring. In a new interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Ross Duffer earlier said: “Season four won’t be the conclusion. In other words, we know exactly what the end will be like and when it will occur. Due to the epidemic, we have had more time to plan for the future of the show. Starting to fill that out gave us a better notion of how long we need to convey the story.”
It sounds like the Duffer brothers are optimistic that they can provide another legendary season of the show, which is a pretty excellent indication considering how incredible season 4 has been thus far. (Volume 2 will also include two additional episodes.)
When Can We Expect Stranger Things Season 5?
That, of course, is a question for the season’s production schedule. The production of the fourth season was significantly slowed down because of the coronavirus outbreak. This caused the previously speculated January 2021 release date to be postponed to May 2022. Filming for Stranger Things Season 4 concluded in August/September 2021, and the first seven episodes were published 9 months later. At this time, there is no official word on when production on Season 5 will commence.

The good news is that the Duffer brothers have already planned out the scenario for Stranger Things 5, but due to filming and editing, the show may not be released for some time.
The Duffer Brothers told Variety, “Don’t hold us to that, but the gap should be quite a little shorter this time, due to the fact that we already have the first framework, and we can’t think there will be another six-month forced break.” Once season 5 begins filming, viewers will have a better idea. I’m crossing my fingers that it won’t take as long as the last time! Raps from the cast of Stranger Things sum up what’s happened in the first two seasons.
Is Season 5 Of Stranger Things The Last?
Yes.
Season 5 of Stranger Things Will Be The Last, but that won’t be the end of the Stranger Things canon. The Duffer brothers said in a statement about the future of the franchise and the release date for season 4: “There are still many more thrilling stories to tell within the universe of Stranger Things; new mysteries, new adventures, and new unexpected heroes.” To further establish the show’s conclusion, David Harbour told Collider, “We’re bringing new stuff, but we’re also tightening and wrapping up in a specific direction.”
While I'm sad that #StrangerThings is ending, I'm so happy to be returning to this world and FINALLY getting closer to that Eleven/Hopper reunion ❤️😭 https://t.co/ZiADaAUnYq

For reasons I can’t get into, I intend for there to be a definitive conclusion at some point. Shawn Levy, the show’s producer, told Collider in a separate interview that he and the Duffer brothers can see the finish line: “There is a plan and it too will be communicated not quite as soon as a sense of when season four is coming out, but soon enough.” To which he added, “I can say this. Nobody is making it up as they go along, and there is a plan B if you will.
What About A Time Jump In Stranger Things 5?
Every episode of Stranger Things begins with a brief flash-forward in time, as any viewer of the show knows. There was a time jump from November/December 1983 in the first season to October 1984 in the second and July 1985 in the third. Season 4 begins eight months after the Battle of Starcourt, in March 1986. Season 5 has already been teased to have a larger time jump than usual.

Because of the ages of the younger performers, the Duffer brothers told TVLine, “I’m sure we will have a time jump.” It would have been ideal to film [Seasons 4 and 5] simultaneously, but that wasn’t possible for a number of reasons. There has been no official word on when Season 5 will take place, but if it airs after March of 1988, it will likely coincide with the premiere of Beetlejuice, which of course stars the real-life starlet Winona Ryder.
How Many Parts Will There Be In Season 5 Of Stranger Things?
Season 5’s episode count has not yet been confirmed, however, given that Seasons 1 and 3 had 8 episodes each and Seasons 2 and 4 had 9 episodes each, it is safe to assume that it will be similar to those previous seasons. The number of stories told in the final season will rely on the ambitions of the show’s creators, the Duffer brothers.
As of yet, we have no information about how long each episode of Season 5 will be. In any case, let’s hope they last as long as the seasons do. Spoilers for the fifth installment of the “Stranger Things” franchise are ahead. Don’t forget to save this page and check back after watching episodes 8 and 9! I must warn you.
What Do You Think Will Happen In Stranger Things Season 5?
With the publication of the season’s final two episodes, speculation about season 5 may begin in earnest. The audience is now aware of Vecna’s backstory, where he came from, and how he is related to Eleven. And now that we know, thanks to Will’s senses, that he is still lurking over Hawkins, that storyline will undoubtedly continue into season 5. Season 5 will focus on the unsolved mysteries of the Upside Down, the Duffer brothers hinted in an interview with Variety, including the importance of the Upside Down remaining locked on the date when Will was abducted back in 1983.
Despite the fact that the issue isn’t resolved this season, the episode “plays that moment where they know it’s frozen in time,” as the writers put it. We wanted to get people talking and thinking about it because it plays such a significant role in Season 5. Season 4 ends with Vecna tearing Hawkins apart, resulting in a massive portal connecting our world with the Upside Down.
In the closing scene, Eleven wanders out into the field by Hopper’s cabin and notices the grass and flowers are dying, suggesting that the Upside Down has spread throughout Hawkins. And in other news, Max’s fate will be explored in season 5. In the season four finale, Max was slain by Vecna, but she was revived and is now in a coma. It appeared that Eleven had brought mom back to life by recalling joyful times, but the season finale came before it could be revealed.
Which Cast Members From Stranger Things 4 Will Be Back For Season 5?
Let’s begin with the positive.
- Millie Bobby Brown (Eleven)
- Finn Wolfhard (Mike),
- Noah Schnapp (Will),
- Gaten Matarazzo (Dustin),
- Caleb McLaughlin (Lucas),
- Priya Ferguson (Erica),
- Joe Keery (Steve),
- Natalia Dyer (Nancy),
- Charlie Heaton (Jonathan)
- Maya Hawke (Robin)
They are all back for Stranger Things 5. So long as Max is still around, we may expect to see Sadie Sink again. Furthermore, Winona Ryder and David Harbour will reprise their roles as Joyce and Hopper. Murray (Brett Gelman) and Karen Wheeler (Cara Buono) will hopefully be back for more. Dr. Owens, played by Paul Reiser, may return, albeit his whereabouts are currently unclear. Given that they didn’t die, Tom Wlaschiha’s Dmitri and Nikola Yuriko’s Yuri might come back, too.
It’s possible that Season 5 will see the return of anyone who wasn’t killed off in Season 4. And to be perfectly honest, even the dead could return in Vecna’s visions or flashbacks. (I’m keeping my fingers crossed that we’ll get one more look at Joseph Quinn’s Eddie Munson.)
To find out what the following season holds, we’ll have to wait.
