The first smartphone to run MediaTek’s “new” Dimensity 7050 SoC, announced yesterday, will be Lava’s upcoming Agni 2 5G. We use the word “new” even though it is the same as the Dimensity 1080 introduced in October last year.
Even if it has a new name, it’s still the same chip! Lava still seeks the honor of being the best. While we wait for the company to officially announce the Agni 2, a list of its key specs and a hands-on photo have leaked today.

According to rumors, the phone will sport an AMOLED display with a built-in fingerprint sensor, an Android 13 operating system, 8GB of RAM, 256GB of storage, and a 50 MP rear-facing primary camera. The initial Agni was introduced in November of 2021, so it’s safe to say that its sequel took a sweet time. The Dimensity 810, which the Agni used as its power source, should provide the new model a substantial performance bump in comparison.
The primary camera’s resolution decreases from 64 MP to 50 MP, yet storage has increased by twice as much. The original Agni had a side-mounted fingerprint sensor and an LCD screen, but its replacement undoubtedly has some good upgrades.
