The Morose Mononokean Season 3 Reviews
Square Enix first announced an anime adaptation of the manga series on February 11, 2016. Pierrot Plus, an animation studio subsidiary of the famed Pierrot, which has produced popular anime programs such as Naruto, Tokyo Ghoul, Bleach, and Black Clover, animated the adaptation.
The anime series debuted on June 28, 2016, and lasted thirteen episodes before ending on September 20, that same year. On January 5, 2019, it was followed by a sequel in a second season, which lasted thirteen episodes until ending on March 30 of the same year.
Following the second season’s conclusion, many fans are wondering if there will be a Season 3 of The Morose Mononokean to see the story continue. So, what is the status of Season 3 of The Morose Mononokean?
We have not heard anything from the author or the studio about Season 3 of The Morose Mononokean. We have no idea if the season will be renewed or not. Fortunately, the show hasn’t been canceled yet, so there’s still hope.
Will The Morose Mononokean Season 3 be released?
Unfortunately, a third season of The Morose Mononokean is quite doubtful. The primary reason for this is that the manga series has already concluded. Most adaptations are designed to promote the source material, and if the source material has already stopped selling, the studio would not need to renew the season.
In terms of material, though, the studio would have more than enough for a second run. The first and second seasons focused on the first 55 chapters out of 92, and with the remaining chapters, they could easily make another season.
Not to mention that the anime was well-received, with both seasons receiving a 7.42 and 7.57 rating on MyAnimeList, respectively. It has also garnered a lot of positive feedback, as evidenced by the reviews.
However, given the first point, it’s safe to assume that Season 3 of The Morose Mononokean will never air.
Are There Any Plans For The Morose Mononokean Season 3?
For the past two years, fans have been wondering if they will see the anime series’ third season, and the show’s makers have not yet decided whether or not to renew it.
Furthermore, anime’s popularity has dwindled in recent years, and it appears to be less popular than other anime series thus far. As a result, The Morose Mononokean Season 3’s chances are small, and the anime makers are anticipated to decide on the show’s future soon.

Mononokean is owned by Hanae’s classmate Haruitsuki Abeno. Even though this is a fabrication, rumors circulate that he murdered the original owner in the demon realm.
Because he is frequently observed napping in class, people are surprised to hear that he is a first-year high school student, but he is relatively mature.
