Although many of these dramas fit into other genres as well, here are some 2023 K-dramas that have action or thriller aspects. This category contains dramas that ran from 2022 to 2023.
Big Bet
A man named Cha Mu Sik (Choi Min Sik) became the renowned king of the Philippine casino in “Big Bet” despite having no innate talent, wealth, or social ties. He finds himself in a life-or-death situation after becoming involved in a murder investigation.
Decoy
In the gripping crime thriller “Decoy,” we follow a former lawyer turned homicide detective as he investigates present-day crimes in an effort to uncover the truth about long-ago cold cases. After Noh Sang Cheon, the perpetrator of South Korea’s largest fraud case—played by Heo Sung Tae—is implicated in a current-day murder case, despite his alleged death eight years ago, Goo Do Han (Jang Keun Suk), a detective resolute in his mission to unearth the truth, becomes involved.
Taxi Driver Season 2
“Taxi Driver” is a dramatic webtoon based on the true story of a shadowy taxi service that exacts revenge for victims who cannot seek redress through the legal system. Season 2 sees the return of Kim Do Gi (Lee Je Hoon), the Rainbow Taxi squad, and the addition of Eun Ha Joon (Shin Jae Ha).
Bloodhounds
In “Bloodhounds,” an action noir adapted from a webtoon, actors Woo Do Hwan and Lee Sang Yi play Gun Woo and Woo Jin, respectively, as they enter the world of loan sharks in search of money and become entangled in a web of much darker force
Family
“Family” covers the lives of two people: Kwon Do Hoon (Jang Hyuk), an undercover operative for the National Intelligence Service (NIS), and his wife Kang Yu Ra (Jang Nara), who wants nothing more than a happy family but is harboring a dark secret.
The Tale of Nine Tails 1938
“Tale of the Nine-Tailed 1938” is the sequel to “Tale of the Nine-Tailed,” and it follows the protagonist, Yi Yeon, a male gumiho (mythical nine-tailed fox) played by Lee Dong Wook, as he sets out on a daring journey to get back to the present day in 1938.s.
D.P. Season 2
A special military team ordered to pursue deserters is the focus of the webtoon series “D.P.” (Deserter Pursuit). Jung Hae In and Goo Kyo Hwan’s An Jun Ho and Han Ho Yeol are back for Season 2.
Island
“Island” is a Jeju Island-set fantasy exorcism drama adapted from a popular webtoon. It shows the tragic and surreal adventure of the protagonists as they are doomed to battle the evil that threatens to wipe humanity off the face of the earth.
Strong Girl Namsoon
Kim Hae Sook, Kim Jung Eun, and Lee Yoo Mi star in “Strong Girl Namsoon,” a comedic spin-off of the popular drama “Strong Woman Do Bong Soon.” The show follows three generations of strong women—Gil Joong Gan, Hwang Geum Joo, and Gang Nam Soon—as they investigate drug-related crimes in the Gangnam area.
The Uncanny Encounter 2
“The Uncanny Counter” stars Jo Byeong Gyu, Kim Sejeong, Yoo Joon Sang, and Yeom Hye Ran as demon hunters So Mun, Do Ha Na, Ga Mo Tak, and Chu Mae Ok, respectively, who possess extraordinary abilities. Along with other new villains, the new season introduces Yoo In Soo as Counter Na Jeok Bong.
Arthdal Chronicles: The Sword of Aramun
In the epic fantasy drama “Arthdal Chronicles,” the legendary ancient realm of Arth is the setting. Lee Joon Gi and Shin Se Kyung reprise their roles as the original leads in Season 2, titled “Arthdal Chronicles: The Sword of Aramun,” which takes place around ten years after Season 1.

Boyhood
Scened in the 1980s at Buyeo Agricultural High School in Chungcheong Province, “Boyhood” chronicles the odyssey of lonesome student Jang Byung Tae (Im Siwan), whose sole ambition is to avoid physical violence, but who unexpectedly becomes the school’s most dominant student.
