Trot Star Kim Ho Joong Faces Police Probe After Hit-And-Run Incident
The well-known trot singer Kim Ho Joong, aged 33, is currently being looked into by the police for a possible hit-and-run incident after a car crash. CCTV footage from the time of the accident has been made public. On May 14, the Gangnam Police Station in Seoul revealed that Kim Ho Joong is under investigation for a hit-and-run.

He’s accused of leaving the scene after crashing into a taxi going the other way on a road in Apgujeong-dong, Gangnam-gu, around 11:40 PM on May 9. A representative, Mr. A, from Kim Ho Joong’s company, went to the police station after the accident and admitted to driving Kim Ho Joong’s car.
Although Kim Ho Joong first denied driving during police questioning, he later confessed after pressure from the police. According to CCTV footage shown by JTBC and others, a white luxury SUV (Bentley Bentayga) collided with a taxi that was stopped on the other side of the road while driving straight on a two-lane road. The vehicle seemed to hesitate for a moment before driving away from the scene.
Additionally, as per Channel A, the black box (dashcam) in Kim Ho Joong’s vehicle didn’t have a memory card, so there was no recorded footage available. Police intend to dig deeper into whether the black box’s memory card was missing and if Kim Ho Joong was driving under the influence.
Meanwhile, Kim Ho Joong’s agency, Thought Entertainment, issued an official apology for the unfortunate incident. They explained, “Kim Ho Joong was in a traffic accident with a taxi on the evening of the 9th. After the crash, he parked the car in an alley, made a call with his manager, and during that time, the taxi driver reported the incident to the police.”
They further clarified, “After getting the details, the manager decided to take responsibility and went to the police station to confess that he was the one driving.”
They also stated, “After hearing about this, Kim Ho Joong personally went to the police station for questioning and alcohol testing. The test results showed no traces of alcohol, and he’s now awaiting the accident investigation outcome.”
Recent updates reveal that Kim Ho Joong held the ‘Travolti Classic Arena Tour 2024’ at Goyang Gymnasium in Gyeonggi Province on May 11 and 12. He’s set to continue the tour in Changwon on the 18th and 19th of this month. Moreover, he has upcoming performances with the ‘World Union Orchestra Super Classic: Kim Ho Joong & Prima Donna’ at the Olympic Park K-Sports Dome on the 23rd and 24th.
Depending on the police inquiry, his schedule might be impacted. Nevertheless, reports indicate that Kim Ho Joong’s show will go on regardless of the investigation.
