Two Pakistani Youths: After going missing last week from Karachi, Pakistan, two teenage females were located in Lahore, some 1200 km (746 miles) away; it was then revealed that the ladies had run away from home in order to visit South Korea to meet BTS. Two adolescent girls who had been missing since last week have been located safe and sound in Lahore, Pakistan, some 1200 km (746 miles) from their hometown of Karachi.

The girls had apparently run away from home in order to travel to South Korea in order to meet the K-pop group BTS. According to a CNN article from January 11th, two young girls (aged 13 and 14) had gone missing the previous Saturday, prompting authorities to open an inquiry. Supposedly, the police discovered a diary with the train schedules and the intentions to escape to meet BTS.
After an intensive inquiry, local authorities learned that the girls were in the custody of the Lahore police. The teenagers were returned to Karachi after police there made transportation arrangements for them. According to Rabia Mehmood, a journalist specializing in cultural issues,
“It isn’t a surprise that two teenagers took this risk because ‘stans’ are capable of doing this for their idols. But if we had more safe organized fangirling spaces, younger fans could engage openly and freely with each other about their favorites instead of taking such risks.”

Some Korean internet users remarked, “That’s expected of teenage girls,” You’re lucky if you ever run into these kids in Korea. Even for Koreans, it might be challenging to catch a BTS performance. “I live in Korea and it’s hard for me to meet BTS,” “These kids are brave! but they won’t be able to see BTS even if they live in Korea,”

“I admire their passion though. But even we Koreans can’t meet them,” “I live in same Korea, same city, and even the same province and I still won’t be able to see them,” “They are so young but I applaud them for their attempt,” and “We Koreans see them only through TV too…”
