Author and creator Michael Hirst penned the scripts for the historical drama and action/adventure show that aired on CTV Canada. Legendary Norse warrior Ragna Lothbrok is a source of inspiration for the show. The show was shot in Ireland and launched in Canada in March of this year. The storyline of the show is loosely based on European history in the early Middle Ages, which was depicted in the series. Six seasons of the show have been aired, with the first half premiering in February 2020 and the second half airing later that month. It was announced in January 2019 that this will be the final season of the series.
Vikings Season 7 Renewal Updates: Is It Really Cancelled Or Are Just Rumors?
As of December 30, 2020, the second half of Vikings season 6 will be available to stream in its entirety via Amazon Prime Video. Each episode of Season 6 Part 2 clocks in at around 45 minutes long.
We now know the following about Season 7. According to a statement made in January of this year, the show’s sixth and final season will air in 2019. The show’s creator, Michael Hirst, had a clear idea of where he wanted the tale to go. Hirst was kept engaged for seven years by his obsession with the Vikings and their culture. His days and nights for seven years were often filled with Vikings, he remarked in an interview with Gamespot. You know, I commuted to Ireland every week, and I would write [until] 12 o’clock at night. “It was time to wrap up the story,” he said.
Hirst went on to explain how the show’s conclusion affected him and the characters. He was “very emotional” since the show would have to kill off several of his favorite characters. Lagertha, one of the world’s greatest shield maidens, is accidentally slain by her stepson Hvitserk in the first half of Season 6. Additionally, it is well-known that fans were devastated by the death of Ragnar Lothbrok, the show’s central character, in season 4. With this, the audience’s interest began to wane. However, Hirst explains that the decision to discontinue the show at the end of season 6 was a conscious one, and not a result of diminishing ratings.
Why Is Vikings Season 7 Cancelled?
It’s inevitable that the show would run out of material because it’s based on historical accounts. This could also be a reason to call an end to the show. Hirst promised a tear-jerking conclusion for his supporters, and he certainly delivered on that promise. The second half of season 6 is full of surprises, including the survival of Harald and Bjorn, who were assumed killed in the season 6 mid-season finale.
Ubbe, Torvi, and the gang of settlers finally locate the new territory, but it’s not quite what they expected. They’ve been worn down by the elements and the trials they’ve encountered along the way. In the new territory, Viking settlers need to create a relationship with the people in a careful manner. It is in England, where Ivar and Hvitiek attack the land of England and engage in a battle with the army of King Alfred, who refuses to flee. As Ragnar’s bravery and goal to conquer the world began, it ended in sorrow for his family, particularly in the new land and England The Vikings have come to the end of their sixth season.
The cancellation of ‘Vikings’ season 7 is confirmed by all of these criteria. The much-loved series is coming to an end, but Hirst isn’t done introducing the world to the famous Norse warriors just yet. “Vikings: Valhalla,” a follow-up series from Michael Hirst and Jeb Stuart, was announced in 2019 and is set 100 years before the events of “Vikings.” Netflix will be the home of the new show. On Hulu and the History Channel app or website, you may watch reruns of ‘Vikings’ from season 6 part 1 onwards.
