Olmar is brought to the location by Fox and Badger to drink. Olmar binges and laments his inability to communicate. Fox informs Olmar that he must murder to mature into a man. When Einar awakens in the morning, he considers how much work still needs to be done on the farm.
Thorfinn, meanwhile, wakes up yelling from a dream he can’t recall. Arnheid, Ketil’s attendant, is the first person Einar encounters as he and Thorfinn wash their faces at the well. Fox and Badger emerge out of nowhere. They transport Einar and Thorfinn to the location.
