Chinese boy band WayV is managed by SM Entertainment’s Chinese sub-label, Label V. They are the fourth sub-unit of South Korean boy band NCT.
Kun, Ten, Winwin, Lucas, Xiaojun, Hendery, and Yangyang are the seven people who make up the band. On January 17, 2019, they made their debut with the digital EP The Vision.
Multiple national and international award shows have recognized the group’s achievements, including Best Dance Performance (Chinese) at the 2021 Asian Pop Music Awards and Favorite Asian Artist at the 2020 Mnet Asian Music Awards.
Some of the SM Entertainment cast had previous experience in the show business. Ten, performing as TNT on the Thai version of the talent show Teen Superstar in 2011. In November of 2015, Xiaojun competed as a singer on the Zhejiang TV survival show X-Fire.
One of the first artists signed to the company, Ten, attended an audition for SM Global in Bangkok, Thailand, in 2013.
Lucas was discovered at an SM Global Audition in Hong Kong in 2015; while Kun was discovered in July of the same year in Beijing, China. In addition, Winwin was successfully street-cast by an SM casting manager at his school.

Wayne’s seven members were all trainees at SM Entertainment before their debut as SM Rookies. Ten and some of his label mates from Exo made an appearance on a 2014 episode of Mnet’s Exo 90:2014, where they sang classics from the ’90s of Korean pop music.
Kun collaborated with NCT U on the Chinese version of “Without You” and performed alongside the group during promotional appearances in April 2016.
