A new preview for JTBC’s upcoming drama “Welcome to Samdalri” has been released. Directed by Cha Young Hoo “Welcome to Samdalri” stars Ji Chang Wook as Jo Yong Pil, a man who has never left his homeland on Jeju Island for the sake of its citizens’ safety. Jo Sam Dal, played by Shin Hye Sun, is a childhood buddy of Jo Yong Pil’s.
Sam Dal was determined to leave Samdalri for the bright lights of Seoul, whereas Yong Pil was satisfied to remain in his hometown. Sam Dal gritted her teeth and worked as an assistant in the ruthless fashion industry so that she could pursue her dream of becoming a photographer; after years of hard labour, she eventually rose to the top under the pseudonym Jo Eun Hye. But when all she’s worked for collapses in an instant, she has no choice but to go back to Samdalri.
The newly released teaser begins with Sam Dal remarking in voice-over, “In my hometown of Jeju, there’s one particular teaching that they emphasize the most while instructing haenyeo [female divers]. “Resist the urge to hoard, and remain [underwater] for as long as your air supply permits. When you reach your breaking point, come back up to the surface to regain your composure.
After glimpses of Sam Dal’s hard-earned career crumbling apart in Seoul, the teaser shows the disgraced photographer returning to Samdalri, where she is reunited with her ex-boyfriend Yong Pil. Yong Pil then said, “So let’s find her. Not Jo Eun Hye, the photographer, but Jo Sam Dal.
