Rapper YNW Melly lives in Florida and makes raw, emotional rap songs about his hard life. After putting out songs in the middle of the 2010s, he made a big splash with his first mixtape, I Am You, in 2018. The artist got his start when he was young.
He grew up on the dangerous streets of Gifford, Florida. Born Jamell Demons in 1999, he started uploading his own songs to SoundCloud when he was only 15. He developed a style that mixed melodically sung lyrics with rough raps about violence, crime, s*x, money, and the hard life he was living as a teenager.
Where Is Ynw Melly Now?
On February 22, 2019, Complex reported that Demons and Henry were also suspects in the shooting death of an Indian River County sheriff’s officer in Gifford in 2017. YNW Melly is still in jail.

A judge in the YNW Melly case has made it easier for the jury to sentence the rapper to death if he is convicted of killing his two former friends. All 12 votes were needed from jury originally but now only an 8-4 vote will be needed to sentence him to death. pic.twitter.com/4wWWiVgnhf

The state says that the killing was a planned, cold act that had nothing to do with morality or the law. Some reports say that YNW Melly has been killed, but we still don’t know what’s really going on with him.
Several news sources disagree with these claims. According to The Fader, state police say that the deaths were done with a lot of vileness, cruelty, or barbarism. The prosecution has also said that Demons was a member of a dangerous street gang and that the murder was done for money.

Even if YNW Melly is found guilty of both murder charges, he could still be put to death. Courts often throw out sentences of death. Fader’s study also found that only 14% of people who are sentenced to death are actually put to death. This means that more than 80% of people who are sentenced to de@th are not put to death.
