9+ 1 Worst Anime To Avoid This Year

Not every anime can be a huge success. Some anime simply don’t cut it. It might be the writing, the characters, or the overuse of tropes. This isn’t to say that fans aren’t permitted to enjoy these performances. It simply indicates that, for whatever reason, the bulk of the fandom did not enjoy them. These anime are ideal for anyone who enjoys pointing out story holes and laughing at oddly naive characters. Finding the lowest-ranked anime of the 2021 winter season is simple thanks to MyAnimeList.

Aikatsu on Parade

When it leans into its realistic Slice of Life roots, Aikutsu on Parade! is actually a rather well-written Shojo anime. When this show introduces fantasy aspects as a method of avoiding world-building components that viewers would undoubtedly like, it fails. Though shifting from a high school environment to a pop star’s stage can be tough, several series have done so before Aikatsu on Parade! Instead of forcing its plot ahead with inexplicable fantastical aspects, this anime series could have pushed over its current ranking of 6.81 on MyAnimeList if it had learned from the previous series.

Cardfight!! Vanguard: Shinemon-hen

As a follow-up to Cardfight!! Fans of Vanguard: Zoku Koukousei-hen may have guessed how difficult this sequel series would be in the winter of 2020. With a score of 6.55, this series outperforms the original, which received a 6.27. Cardfight!! By adding corporate drama to the plot, Vanguard: Shinemon-hen seeks to capitalize on the trend of animated card games popularised by Yu-Gi-Oh and Hunter X Hunter’s Greed Island Arc. Unfortunately, the added drama simply serves to distract viewers from the series’ overdramatic duels.

Phantasy Star Online 2

Though it appears that Anime has scored a home run by merging anime with video game content with Isekai genre hits like Sword Art Online, Phantasy Star Online 2: Episode Oracle demonstrates that not every mixture of these two cultures is worth viewers’ attention. Phantasy Star Online 2: Episode Oracle isn’t a bad show, but it fails to provide anything truly unique or inventive to the anime world. Viewers of the Science Fiction anime series will undoubtedly enjoy this show, but anime fans, in general, may find it difficult to embrace this new series as a mainstay as we got closer to 2020.

The Seven Deadly Sins

The Seven Deadly Sins is, without a doubt, the most popular anime on this list, aside from Boruto: Naruto Next Generation. Fans of the series will undoubtedly be disappointed when it receives a 6.41 rating in the winter of 2020. Despite the fact that The Seven Deadly Sins is one of the most well-known anime series in the world, it is far from a masterpiece of anime content. If anything, this series demonstrates how much “poor” anime content is appreciated by viewers.

Bonobono

Bonobono isn’t the place to go if you’re seeking for rubbish anime to watch. Though it doesn’t quite reach the level of a masterpiece like The Promised Neverland, this series plays an important role in anime culture. Bonobono is a show for children, but not in the same sense that the Shonen anime series is for children. Children who are still too young to enjoy complicated and grim anime series like Hunter X Hunter and Jujutsu Kaisen would like this series. Bonobono is a terrific anime series for children’s television, therefore it’s a shame to see it ranked so low.

Azur Lane

When the Sirens, an alien civilization, assault Earth, the world’s remaining nations band together to defeat them. Anime aficionados will undoubtedly appreciate the significance of such a promising notion. Azur Lane’s only serious flaw is its continually unimaginative usage of anime cliches. It’s becoming increasingly difficult to watch a series like Azur Lane when new programs like Jujutsu Kaisen perfect anime tropes. That isn’t to say that fans should ignore the series. Readers who appreciate Sci-Fi anime series will undoubtedly enjoy Azur Lane, despite its flaws.

Beyblade Burst Gachi Recaptures The Magic Of Beyblade

The burst of Beyblade With a cast of new and engaging characters, Gachi strives to innovate on the old Beyblade model but falls short of replicating the charm of the original series. With a good 6.09 rating on MyAnimeList in the winter of 2020, this new entry into the Beyblade canon has lots of space for improvement in the coming year. In 2021, Drum Koryu might be able to add to the series’ excitement. If not, readers may soon find Beyblade Burst Gachi on a list of the worst winter anime of 2021.

Sazae-San’s

Sazae-San is an excellent alternative for anime enthusiasts searching for a well-animated family sitcom to binge, despite its low rating. This anime series is ranked 6.10 out of 10.0 on MyAnimeList, but that doesn’t mean fans should dismiss it. In reality, the outmoded use of anime tropes and corny conflicts that upset Sazae-family San’s provide viewers with a relaxed viewing experience that is sorely lacking in an anime culture that pushes horror as frequently as action in its most successful series. If viewers are tired of Jujutsu Kaisen and The Promised Neverland, a few episodes of Sazae-San will undoubtedly satisfy them.

Boruto: Naruto Next Generation

Fans can only imagine Naruto’s disappointment if his son’s anime series was included on a list of the worst anime of winter 2020. Boruto is, without a question, the most popular anime series on the planet. Despite its popularity, MyAnimeList gives Boruto: Naruto Next Generation a 5.80 for the content released in the winter of 2020. Hopefully, the future of this series may take a page from the manga and start producing content worthy of its father series, Naruto.

Yodel No Onna

Yodel No Onna, although receiving the lowest rating of any other anime series in Winter 2020, is still worth watching for anime enthusiasts in need of a good chuckle. Fans will laugh at the music and summary on MyAnimeList, but they will never completely appreciate the charm of Yodel No Onna’s anime material until they see an episode. Fortunately, this series is classified as a comedy on MyAnimeList, so viewers may be assured that they are not alone in laughing at it.
