Young Royals Season 2: Sweden’s Young Royals is an adolescent drama web series in the fictitious Hillerska Academy. The fictional Prince Wilhelm of Sweden (Edvin Ryding) is at the center of the story, as is his developing gay romance with his fellow student Simon Eriksson (Omar Rudberg).
Six episodes of the Series, developed by Lisa Ambjörn, Lars Beckung, and Camilla Holter, debuted on Netflix on July 1, 2021. The show’s second season was greenlit on September 22, 2021, and its premiere date has been set for November 1, 2022.
Young Royals Season 2 Release Date
Production on the second season began in February of 2022, as seen by the lovely teaser Netflix released to surprise viewers. They’ve only filmed six more episodes, and since they’re only kids and not superheroes, there won’t be any considerable effects to add in post-production.
The second season of Young Royals will premiere in its entirety on Netflix sometime in November 2022, the streaming service said in July 2022. Still a bit hazy, but at least we know that Simon and Wilhelm will be back on our televisions before the end of the year. As soon as we have more information on the exact day new episodes debut in November, we will share it here.

Young Royals Season 2 Cast
Edvin Ryding’s Prince Wilhelm on Young Royals will return for a second season. The following people will likely join him:
• Omar Rudberg as Simon
• Malte Gårdinger as August
• Frida Argento as Sara
• Nikita Uggla as Felice
• Pernilla August as Queen Kristina of Sweden
• Nathalie Varli as Madison
• Carmen Gloria Pérez as Linda
Both Ryding and Rudberg connect to their characters.
There are commonalities between these people and us,” Ryding told Numero. “When it comes to Wilhelm’s anxiety battles, I recognize many of my own experiences. I’ve read up on the royal families, but I know there’s much more behind the scenes that the average person doesn’t see. Unfortunately, that means we’ll never properly understand what it’s like.
After considering what it’s like to be a young royal, I’ve concluded that it’s not for me.” Rudberg concurred, saying, “It would be fun to try it out for a day or a week, but not permanently.” “Though, there were instances when Edvin made concerted efforts to play the part of a prince on set. In many ways, I see myself in Simon.
Whenever he’s with his Spanish-speaking classmates or friends, or when he visits his Latina mom at home. They have the same tiniest of bonds. Having a hard time relating to Simon? Just remember that you’re not alone. His academic performance is beyond my understanding.” Since Crown Prince Erik was killed off in the first season, Ivar Forsling is a significant star who may not be back for a second. However, his influence on Wilhelm was substantial, so it’s feasible that we’ll see Erik again in flashback form during Season 2.
Young Royals Season 2 Storyline
Wilhelm and Simon’s relationship swiftly deteriorated after August leaked a sex tape featuring the couple. Wilhelm lied and betrayed Simon by denying his involvement to shield his loved ones from harm. Wilhelm asks Simon in the season one finale whether they can keep their relationship a secret. Overstepping that limit could be detrimental to the Crown’s image.
Simon, however, finds that unacceptable and decides to sever ties permanently. He believes so, anyway, because it’s evident at the conclusion that the two teenagers still care about one another. In Season 2, will Wilhelm still follow his mother’s orders? However, we find that hard to believe.
Seeing how he and Simon will still cross paths at Hillerska, there will be enough sexual tension to deal with in future episodes… if that is, Simon can forgive Wilhelm for what he did. Netflix announced the premiere date for Season 2 in July 2022, along with some sneak peek photographs, hinting that the new episodes will focus on “friendship, secrets, retribution, and a challenge to the monarchy.”
That’s a lot of promise for a fascinating story. Actor Omar Rudberg had previously hinted (via The Mud Mag) that whatever ends up occurring in the upcoming Young Royals revival, it’s “going to go insane” before Netflix even confirmed its comeback. I have no idea what will happen,” Omar remarked. “I think a lot is going to happen, though, if you watch the Series and consider what it exposes about the characters towards the conclusion.
A second season would be fantastic, and I hope one is in the works. Things are about to get very dramatic, very chaotic.” “I hope his life is filled with thrilling adventures and exciting scenes. We need more music! The best of luck to him, and may everything work in his favor!” Omar continued. No matter what occurs, the second season will have a lot of plot packed into its six episodes.
“As is the case with every season, many plotlines had to be abandoned in the first, and I, as a writer, tend to attempt to cram too much into my work. As a result, I feel that we have just scratched the surface of some of the issues and character developments, and there is still a great deal to explore. “The Next Rush Magazine’s lead writer Ambjörn said as much.
“Since the novel explores what occurs when someone challenges a long-standing power system, and since men have traditionally held positions of authority, it seemed fitting to focus on male protagonists. Like a triangle scenario, Wilhelm, Simon, and August all want Wilhelm’s attention but end up competing for it.”

There has been no announcement regarding a release date for a trailer, which is disappointing. New footage could arrive as early as October this year, despite the confirmed release date of November 2022. We’ll keep you informed no matter what happens since we have our eyes on the royal vaults.
