IU’s reveal on Suchwita is substantial! The most recent edition of BTS’s chat program Suchwita featured IU, or Lee Ji Eun, South Korea’s top soloist and famous celebrity vocalist. A previously unknown part of the friendship between BTS and IU has been unearthed by fans! During their initial cooperation on the album Eight, Suga disclosed that the singer asked for RM’s contact information but never followed through—for an unexpected reason.
IU Did Not Initially Choose Suga
In the most recent episode of Suchwita, the Haegum singer opened up about working with IU on their debut album, Eight. The song quickly came to represent IU’s character due to the positive reception it received from fans. They worked together again for Suga’s People, Part 2 later on.
According to IU, Suga wasn’t her initial choice when it came to collaborating with BTS members. Her original intent in contacting him was to inquire about the best way to get in touch with RM! When questioned about the possible genre of the song she co-wrote with RM, IU responded, “something quite serious.” You can also watch out the full video of Suchwita here.
During that time, the famous singer said, she wanted her songs to reflect her emotions. Perhaps the K-pop star was reflecting on the memories of her friends who had passed away, including SHINee members Sulli and Jonghyun. Even though IU got RM’s number from Suga, he said that he never contacted him. She went on to say that it took a lot of guts to even ask for his contact information. Because my mental health wasn’t great when I was writing it, I wanted to channel those feelings into music. So, it would have been a very serious tune.

Why IU Never Contact RM?
During that time, BTS and IU were not very close. The fact that IU was reluctant to call and ultimately didn’t was finally admitted by her. Over time, IU’s original idea for a collaboration with RM faded, and she ultimately composed the song “Eight” on her own. Because she felt it would be more natural to collaborate on the project with someone her own age, she picked Suga, whom she dubbed “the best producer,” to be her collaborator.
She admitted that she had initially requested RM’s number from Yoongi, but had never actually contacted him. I had a strong desire to act swiftly after gathering Suga’s number, but I lacked the guts to phone a complete stranger. It took a lot of courage for me to ask for his number.
