For their 15th anniversary, SM Entertainment announced in May 2022 that Girls’ Generation would make a full-group comeback after a five-year absence. As part of their anniversary celebration, the band appeared on JTBC’s Soshi TamTam, a reality show that ran for eight episodes beginning in July. Forever 1, their seventh studio album in Korean, was released in August 2022, and it reached #2 on the Circle Albums Chart. In the same month as their sold-out “Long Lasting Love” special event in September 2022, the group also performed at the SM Town Live 2022 concert. After her exclusive contract with SM Entertainment concluded in August 2023, Sunny left the label.
