I Am Legend, which debuted in 2007, has grown to be one of the most recognizable movies in the business and for Will Smith. The Robert Neville narrative was the actor’s big break, and he went on to land several roles. The long-awaited sequel was first mentioned in March of last year, but little was known about it until recently.
A failed attempt to develop a cancer treatment results in the eradication of the majority of humanity, leaving just a few survivors and some people who have been transformed into a kind of vampire-zombie hybrid. This is how the plot of the first volume was put up. A virologist named Neville chases these creatures in New York City in an effort to ultimately find a cure.
Currently, the sequel has a plot, two leads, and a potential release date. The project will be overseen by Akiva Goldsman (Constantine), who will also serve as director and writer. It won’t be his only production; he is also working on Constantine 2, which will star Peter Stormare as Lucifer and Keanu Reeves in the legendary roles of John and John.

Although a significant portion of the project has not yet been established and production has only recently started, it is anticipated to hit the big screen in late 2024 or early 2025.

I Am Legend 2 Cast
The two lead actors have been chosen, albeit not many actors have been confirmed as of yet. Michael B. Jordan, who will shortly be seen in the third Creed movie, will join Will Smith in reprising his role as Robert Neville. Although the character he will be playing has not yet been revealed, it is anticipated that it will be significant given that he will be competing against the Bad Boys star.

I Am Legend 2 Plot
We will be getting into story spoilers in this section, so proceed with caution if you haven’t seen the original movie. The virus is successfully cured by Will Smith’s character at the conclusion of I Am Legend. However, in doing so, he does pay the ultimate price and perishes in some of the film’s closing scenes.
Will Smith’s participation in the sequel is thus confirmed, but many fans are baffled by it. Particularly considering that the sequel will take place decades after the first, as a writer and producer Akiva Goldsman just revealed in an interview with Deadline.
“This will start a few decades later than the first,” Goldsman began. “I’m obsessed with The Last of Us, where we see the world just post-apocalypse but also after a 20-30-year lapse. You see how the earth reclaims the world, and there’s something beautiful in the question of, as a man steps away from being the primary tenant, what happens?”
The sequel would once again take place in New York and deal with the aftermath of the virus and how such a large metropolis moves on from this catastrophe, the writer and producer then said.
“That will be especially visual in New York. I don’t know if they’ll climb up to the empire state building, but the possibilities are endless. We trace back to the original Matheson book, and the alternate ending as opposed to the released ending in the original film.
What Matheson was talking about was that man’s time on the planet as the dominant species had come to an end. That’s a really interesting thing we’re going to get to explore. There will be a little more fidelity to the original text.”
