Jungkook of BTS has made history by becoming the first Korean solo artist to top the Hanteo album chart. The vocalist behind GOLDEN sold over 2.4 million record copies (2,438,483) in the first week of his solo album release. The GOLDEN solo album by the BTS vocalist was released on November 3, 2023. Additionally, this is the very first instance of a soloist accomplishing this in all of Hanteo’s existence.
The Hanteo chart is a South Korean music chart system that monitors the real-time sales of K-pop albums. There are around 1,500 record stores all over the world that are in sync with the list. Music competitions like Inkigayo, Show Champion, and Music Bank use hanteo charts for their scoring systems.
Hanteo charts are music charts broken down by genre for tangible records. It shows the genre-specific top 10s for K-pop, Trot, OST, and Pop. Using the same technology as the Hanteo chart, data on Korean pop music from around the world is compiled to construct the final chart.
