Kim Ho Joong Fan Site Shuts Down Amid Drunk Driving Scandal
Amidst criticism surrounding a hit-and-run incident allegedly involving trot singer Kim Ho Joong, his fan page has abruptly transitioned to a private setting.
The controversy stems from accusations that Kim Ho Joong was involved in a hit-and-run collision with a taxi while changing lanes near Sinsa-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, around 11:40 PM on May 9.
Following the incident, Kim Ho Joong’s manager purportedly confessed to driving the vehicle falsely, prompting suspicions of a potential cover-up by the agency regarding the drunk driving allegations.

Despite the unfolding controversy, fans have remained steadfast in their support for Kim Ho Joong, expressing their belief in his innocence and sending words of encouragement flooding the fan cafe website. Bolstered by this unwavering support, Kim Ho Joong proceeded with his scheduled solo concert on May 18-19 in Changwon, Gyeongsangnam-do.
However, following the concert on the 19th, Kim Ho Joong came forward and confessed to the drunk driving incident. Shockingly, it emerged that the agency’s CEO had pressured the manager into making the false confession. Furthermore, it was revealed that the agency head had gone to extreme lengths by swallowing the memory card from Kim Ho Joong’s car’s black box (dashcam) in an attempt to conceal evidence, suggesting a systematic cover-up.
As the scandal and deceit unfolded, some fans began to distance themselves from Kim Ho Joong. The fan cafe’s membership, which had previously stood at around 150,000 before the incident, dropped to 140,000, with growing demands among fans for accountability and transparency.
In a significant move on May 22, Kim Ho Joong’s official fan site ‘Tvarotti’ was transitioned to a private setting, restricting access solely to existing members. A notice from the administrator was issued, advising members against creating new posts.
Despite these unfolding events, Kim Ho Joong proceeded with plans for his concert on May 23-24.
Think Entertainment, Kim Ho Joong’s agency, acknowledged that the police had requested an arrest warrant but affirmed their intention to proceed with the planned performance. They emphasized, “Despite the uncertainty surrounding the arrest warrant request, we remain committed to fulfilling our promise to the fans through the concert.”
