This weekend, Marvel’s smallest hero will make a comeback on the big screen. Scott Lang, the size-altering hero played by Paul Rudd in Ant-Man (2015) and Ant-Man and the Wasp (2018), makes his third solo appearance in Quantumania.
It is the 31st MCU movie overall, but more significantly, it is the first film in Phase 5 of the MCU, which means this new movie prepares the way for some significant changes in the Marvel film series.
The breezily strange return of Ant-Man, whose main superpower is “Paul Rudd’s outsize charm, and whose biggest weakness is that everyone’s continuously mocking him — even the writers of his own movie,” is warmly welcomed by critic Richard Trenholm in CNET’s Quantumania review.
Quantumania Release Date
On February 17, Ant-Man 3 will be released in theaters. The first big blockbuster to hit theaters in 2023 will be Quantumania. And it will be the largest movie to compete with Avatar: The Way of Water, which dethroned it just recently with its December launch.
Quantumania Cast
Paul Rudd plays Scott Lang and Evangeline Lilly plays Hope van Dyne, whose parents are portrayed by Michelle Pfeiffer and Michael Douglas by returning director Peyton Reed. David Dastmalchian also makes a comeback, however, he might be portraying a different role than in the first two Ant-movie movies.
Kathryn Newton, who has appeared in films such as Big Little Lies, Freaky, Pokémon Detective Pikachu, and Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri, plays Cassie, Lang’s daughter. Jonathan Majors reprises his role as the evil Kang in the final episode of the Disney Plus Marvel series Loki. William Jackson Harper, Katy O’Brien, and Bill Murray also appear. That Bill Murray, yes.

Quantumania Plot
The Ant-gang returns to the itty-bitty teeny-tiny universe after saving Janet van Dyne from the quantum realm in the first Ant-Man and the Wasp movie. In an effort to make up for lost time with his troublesome teenage daughter, Scott is accompanied by Cassie this time. The trailer claims that he strikes a deal with the villainous Kang, which of course fails miserably.
Where Can Watch Quantumania?
The earliest date for the Disney+ premiere of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania should be April 5, 2023. There is a reason why this is two days longer than the 45-day requirement that Disney previously mentioned. Due to the 45-day limit, Ant-Man 3 would be added to Disney+ on Monday instead of the usual Wednesday.
The MCU movie with the shortest time between its theatrical and streaming debuts is Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, which had a theatrical release and streaming premiere 47 days apart. Because of this, an early release of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania on Disney+ would be unexpected.
