Who Is The Leader Of BTS?
RM is the leader of BTS. His full name is Kim Namjoon. It was revealed in 2013 that RM, who was then known as “Rap Monster,” would be leading the seven-member group BTS when they made their debut as a unit.
It is common practice in K-pop groups to designate certain roles for each member; for example, the group’s leader will often be referred to as “the voice” and will be responsible for overseeing the other members and communicating the group’s direction to its record labels.
Even though he joined BTS at the tender age of 19, RM is now one of the group’s primary rappers and the pioneer in their training program at Big Hit Entertainment (now HYBE). Before he joined BTS, he was a major player in Korea’s underground hip-hop scene as Runch Randa, recording music and collaborating with artists like Zico.
Ignoring his parents’ disapproval, RM accepted Big Hit Entertainment CEO Bang Si-hyuk’s position at the record label in 2010. Producer Pdogg of Bang and Big Hit would later start a hip-hop group that would grow into BTS, an idol group. Suga (real name: Jung Ho-seok) was RM’s dance partner for three years, while J-Hope (real name: Min Yoon-gi) was his fellow rapper.
RM is currently serving in the military. He joined his military service in last December 2023. RM has been promoted to first-class among Jimin, Jungkook and Taehyung.
What is the Age and Net Worth of BTS’ RM?
RM is a Virgo according to the zodiac, having been born on September 12, 1994, in Seoul, South Korea. The rapper’s extraordinary songwriting skills are on full display with his 130+ songwriting credits, the most majority of which are BTS songs.
With BTS’s extensive endorsement relationships with brands like Hyundai, Mattel, and Puma, RM is undoubtedly also reaping a portion of the lucrative deals. His income is substantial, to put it mildly. Consequently, his wealth is approximately $20 million.
What RM Usually Like?
Actually, RM was a brilliant South Korean student before he became famous. He was in the top one percent of the country on standardized tests for math, science, language, and social studies, and he had an IQ of 148. When RM was a little boy, he and his mom would watch the American sitcom Friends to help him learn the language.
In May 2021, RM spoke with Rolling Stone about his desire to attend a prestigious college, specifically an Ivy League school according to American standards. I worked very hard because I was just a regular student. I began to follow a different road after putting my faith in [HYBE creator] Mr. Bang. Also, I was desperate to pursue my aspirations, and I felt a feeling of urgency to do so.
The rapper’s interests extend beyond music; he is also a respected patron of the arts. In an interview he gave to the New York Times in August 2022, he discussed his time at the Art Institute of Chicago and how the works of Monet and Seurat enchanted him.
RM’s Solo Career
In June 2022, at BTS’s ninth-anniversary festivities, RM expressed a desire for some personal and professional reflection time. In September, he was featured on the single “S*xy Nukim” by “alternative K-pop group” Balming Tiger, and on December 2, he released his debut solo studio album Indigo.
This was followed by an announcement that the band would be focusing more on individual endeavors moving forward; they took a long break from most group activities soon after.
