Blockberry Creative Cases: In the past, LOONA members have filed lawsuits against BlockBerry Creative and both won and lost. To suspend their exclusive contracts with Blockberry Creative, Heejin, Kim Lip, Jinsoul, and Choerry reportedly won their lawsuits on January 13, while Haseul, Yeojin, Yves, Olivia Hye, and Gowon lost.
Given the outcome, the four winning members’ exclusive contracts have been terminated, while the other five will continue to work together as a label. According to published accounts, the four members who prevailed in their lawsuits shared the same contract terms as Chuu, who was booted from LOONA last November.
Haseul, Yeojin, Yves, Olivia Hye, and Gowon’s contracts all had terms altered a year or two ago, and the court did not rule that the contracts were unjust. Blockberry Creative has said, “We’re looking into it,” about the case findings. Nine LOONA members sued Blockberry Creative for a temporary restraining order in November of 2022. Neither Vivi nor Hyunjin was involved in the trial.

The group’s pre-debut project kicked off in October 2016, and over the course of the next 18 months, each of the 12 members was gradually exposed to the public via the release of a promotional track. They made their official debut as a group with the release of the extended play [+ +] (2018), which featured the singles “Favorite” and “Hi High” as the primary promotional pieces. Chuu was kicked to the curb in November of 2022.
