An exciting announcement regarding the release of a limited edition collection including various BLACKPINK-related items was made on November 17. In large part because of Takashi Murakami’s participation, this collection has quickly attracted international notice and excitement among admirers.
Murakami, a forerunner of the “superflat” art trend, is known for his ability to fluidly combine high art components, such as literacy and cultural codes that allow for communication across borders, with elements from popular culture. This collaboration with BLACKPINK is a highly anticipated combination of art and pop culture, as his distinctive style draws inspiration from both classical Japanese painting and modern anime.
