Move to Heaven is a South Korean drama series that premiered on Netflix on May 14, 2021. The show is based on the essay “Things Left Behind” by former trauma cleaner Kim Sae-by and follows the lives of Geu-ru, a young man with Asperger’s syndrome, and his uncle Sang-gu, who work as trauma cleaners and deliver the final messages of the deceased to their loved ones.
Both spectators and critics have given the musical high marks for its moving and heartwarming plot as well as the outstanding cast performances. There are 10 episodes in the first season of Move to Heaven, with each episode lasting between 45 and 60 minutes.
There was some unfinished business and a suggestion that the narrative would continue in the season finale. What Can We Expect From Move to Heaven Season 2?
The first season of Move to Heaven ended with some unresolved issues and potential conflicts. For instance, Joo Young, the corrupt politician who was behind the death of Geu-ru’s father and many others, managed to escape from the police and went into hiding. It is possible that he will seek revenge on Sang-gu and Geu-ru for exposing his crimes and ruining his career.
Moreover, we also learned that Na-mu, Geu-ru’s friend and neighbour, has developed romantic feelings for him. However, Geu-ru may not be able to reciprocate her feelings due to his condition and his attachment to his father’s memory. This could create some complications in their relationship.
On the other hand, we also saw some positive developments in the finale. Sang-gu decided to stay with Geu-ru as his guardian and partner, despite being deemed unfit by the court. He also reconciled with his estranged mother and sister, who offered him their support.
Geu-ru also made some progress in his social skills and emotional expression, thanks to Sang-gu’s guidance and Na-mu’s friendship. He also received a letter from his father that revealed his true identity and his love for him.
The second season of Move to Heaven could explore these plot points further and show how Sang-gu and Geu-ru cope with the challenges and dangers they face from Joo Young and others. It could also depict how they continue their work as trauma cleaners and deliver more messages of hope and healing to the bereaved families.
Additionally, it could delve deeper into Geu-ru’s past and his connection to his biological parents. It could also develop the romance between Na-mu and Geu-ru and show how they overcome their differences and difficulties.
