The South Korean boy band H.O.T (Highfive Of Teenagers), which had five members, was created by SM Entertainment in 1996. H.O.T.’s debut signaled the beginning of the first idol generation of K-pop, even though there were boy groups in the 1980s, like Sobangcha, and in the early 1990s, like Seo Taiji and Boys.

They are known as the original K-pop idol group, and numerous groups that followed them adopted their formula for success. They were the first Asian Korean wave celebrities. As a K-pop group, H.O.T. had a successful career that included several records and trophies. They split up in May 2001, but their influence continues.

2018 saw the reunion of H.O.T. members, who joined forces to perform at a concert for the variety show “Infinite Challenge.” They have some classic songs. “Candy” is a song of this type. It is one of their most recognizable and well-known songs and is a bubblegum pop tune. H.O.T.’s hugely successful track “Candy,” released in 1996, contributed to the band’s growing notoriety, especially among young ladies.

Korean popular music, or K-pop (Korean: RR: keipap), is a genre of popular music that has its roots in South Korea and is a component of South Korean culture. On top of its roots in traditional Korean music, it incorporates forms and genres from around the world, including pop, hip-hop, R&B, experimental, rock, jazz, gospel, reggae, electronic dance, folk, country, disco, and classical.

In the 2000s, “K-pop” gained popularity, particularly on a global scale.  Gayo (Korean: Hanja), still frequently used in South Korea, is the word for domestic pop music in Korea. Although “K-pop” can describe any popular or pop music from South Korea, it is frequently used informally to refer to all Korean music and artists connected to the nation’s entertainment and idol industry, regardless of genre.

With the formation of the hip-hop boy band Seo Taiji and Boys in 1992, the more contemporary genre variation, initially referred to as “rap dance,” developed. Their experimenting with various musical genres and styles and the incorporation of foreign musical components contributed to the transformation and modernization of South Korea’s contemporary music scene.
